This is to inform all visitors that Elite Shots is shutting down. Thank you all of you who have visited and used this little project over the years. It was not a very popular project yet I am thankful to those who have been interested in the project.
A core part of why I could host so much data was the fact that I was using Backblaze along with Cloudflare as a CDN and this combo allowed me to use egress for free. I only had to pay for storage and storage in Backblaze is very cheap. My bills were less than a couple of US dollars.
On the 18th of March, 2024, I started receiving mails that my credit card payments were failing. Trying to fix the payment issue did nothing, and I tried with all the credit cards I had. Upon raising a support request I was told, that due to regulatory changes in India, no credit card under RBI(India's financial regulator) will work and that I will need to look for a card outside that. I don't know about your circumstances but getting a credit card outside my financial regulator is not possible for me.
Backblaze hasn't provided any solution for me. I can't pay the bill of less than a dollar because they have no other way to pay the bill. This has led to me not being able to host the images any more.
Storing data on the cloud is cheap, it's the egress, or the transfer of data out of the storage where charges are high. Hosting somewhere else can be financially dangerous if someone were to decide to attack my servers.
I really hope you have a backup copy of the images. If not, don't worry. I am downloading all images and will keep them with me. If you need them, DM me in Discord(garud) or join the EliteKode Discord server and ask me for them.
Once again, I am really sorry that it had to end like this. If someone thinks that they can put the source code to good use, feel free to fork it. It's open source under a permissive license. I will probably keep paying for the domain so that this notice stay up.
